Protagonist Carl "CJ" Johnson returns to his hometown of Los Santos and needs to re-establish himself in his former neighborhood. The video ends directly at the beginning of GTA San Andreas, when protagonist Carl "CJ" Johnson arrives in San Andreas after hearing the news that his mom has died.

It was available with the North American PS2 Special Edition of GTA San Andreas or the official soundtrack double CD. All the same, it’s funny to see Carl Johnson web-swinging across the streets of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, even if such a feature isn't likely to be added to the GTA franchise any time soon. The Introduction is a roughly twenty minute video, created with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' video engine, that details how events in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City led to events in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Meanwhile, comparing Grand Theft Auto to many of Spider-Man’s most recent video game offerings is rather apt considering that they both take place in an open-world city plagued by crime and chaos – the big difference being that GTA’s various characters often cause these problems while Spider-Man tries to prevent them. The first of these GTA Trilogy - Definitive Edition patches was released earlier this week and while players note it does fix problems like San Andreas’s heavy rainfall, they also stress that there is still more work to be done.

Rockstar and developer Grove Street Games have since apologized to fans about the condition of the GTA Trilogy - Definitive Edition upon release, and are working to address the collection’s various technical issues with update patches. This wasn’t without a fair deal of controversy, as the Definitive Edition was shipped with many game-breaking bugs and glitches. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was recently re-released as part of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy - Definitive Edition last month alongside Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. It is also very similar to a TikTok video by Jron, though this one features a low-poly version of Spider-Man modded into the old version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Appropriately enough, the video is set to a cover of Post Malone’s “Sunflower,” which was prominently featured in the animated Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse movie. This brief gameplay clip, courtesy of Chilli'n'Vibe at Gfycat, shows Carl Johnson performing a running leap off of a rooftop, performing a backflip and dive, and finally shooting a string of webbing like Peter Parker in Insomniac’s critically-acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man. Reddit user NecessaryAnemia recently shared a modded video from the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy - Definitive Edition version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The most recent piece of modded San Andreas isn’t as drastic as GTA Underground, but it does allow CJ to swing above the mean streets as only a spider can.

Unfortunately, GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive issued a cease-and-desist order to the modders behind this project as part of a larger crackdown on GTA mods earlier this year.
#GTA SAN ANDREAS S MOD#
Like many of Rockstar Game’s open-world titles, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been the subject of fan mods over the years, with the GTA: Underground mod being particularly noteworthy for using in-game assists from other Rockstar titles like GTA: Vice City, GTA III, Bully, and Manhunt to expand CJ’s stomping grounds on a massive scale. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas tells the story of Carl “CJ” Johnson, a former gang member who - after the death of his mother - is drawn back into the machinations of the Grove Street families in the titular California-inspired state of Los Santos and much crime and chaos ensues. The 2004 installment of Rockstar’s open-world crime sandbox franchise is considered by many to be one of the best in the series, and a true San Andreas follow-up is still a common request from fans well over a decade later. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas star Carl Johnson jumps, flips, and web-swings just like Spider-Man himself in a newly uncovered mod video.
